President Nana Akufo-Addo has fired three High Court judges implicated in acts of corruption with immediate effect.

The judges by name  Mr. Ayisi Addo, Mr. Paul Uuter Dery, and Mr. Mustapha Habib Logoh.

These three judges were among the 22 High and Lower Court judges captured by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, in audio and video recordings in 2015, showing them collecting bribes on their line of duty.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has, by letter dated Thursday, 6th December, 2018, removed Mr. Justice Ayisi Addo, Mr. Justice Uuter Paul Dery, and Mr. Justice Mustapha Habib Logoh, from office as Justices of the High Court,” a statement from the Presidency said.

TIN registration hits over 2 million:Ghana Revenue Authority.

High number of over two million people have already obtained their Taxpayer Identification
Numbers (TIN), the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) announced this development on Monday 10th December,2018.

The Assistant Commissioner, Communications and Public Affairs of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Mr Kwesi Bobie-Ansah,disclosed this.He elaborated more people were registering to acquire the TIN because it had become a requirement for certain business transactions.

The TIN is a unique identification number issued to taxpayers for official transactions, and the GRA has said it wants to use this strategy to expand the tax net for domestic revenue generation.

In accordance with the Revenue Administration Act (RAA), a person shall show the TIN in any claim, declaration, notice, return, statement or other document used for the purpose of a tax law.The RAA, he stated, provides a list of institutions to which the TIN applies, including the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Controller and Accountant General’s Department and the Lands Commission, etc.

Relating how important the TIN is becoming,He pleaded with the public to register for the TIN and to be able to transact businesses.
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) gave a hint in some were April this year, that persons without the TIN number given to identify taxpayers and enable the GRA to credit them whenever they pay their taxes, cannot open a bank account, file a case in court, acquire a passport or obtain a driver’s licence.

Persons without the TIN also will not be able to register a vehicle, clear goods in commercial quantities from the ports or register any title to land or any document affecting land.Other services for which the TIN is needed include registration of company at the Registrar General’s Department or any District Assembly office; receiving any payment from the Controller and Accountant General or a District Assembly in respect of a contract for the supply of any goods or provisions of any services.

Most banks have pleaded that although staff had been educated on the TIN, the bank had planned to use the rest of the year to educate clients and would fully enforce it next year.
Note that the finance minister stated in the just read buffet that the TIN shall take serious effect in January 2019.

Arise and clean Ghana:

According to the World Health Organization, “sanitation generally refers to the provision of facilities and services for the safe disposal of human urine and feaces. The word sanitation also refers to the maintenance of hygienic conditions, through services such as garbage collection and waste disposal”. This definition of sanitation is important not only because it comes from a global watchdog of health like the World Health Organization but because it identifies the three important components of sanitation – human excreta waste, solid waste and liquid waste.
Cleanliness they say is next to Godliness but in Ghana its a different story all together. Sanition issues is becoming a burden on each government that take mantra in Ghana and most of these issues are as a result of several factors combined.
first lets take a look at,
 CITIZENSHIP ATTITUDE:
Most of these filth we find on the streets and gutter are as a result of our making, one could realise that cleaning our own surrounding were we live has become a challenge. We dumb rubbish any place of our choice forgetting the long effects.Citizens turn blind eye to choked gutter in their neighbourhood all in the name that the government should come and distill them.
Its embarrassing as a people to see open defecation is widespread as 3 out of five Ghanaians attend natures call in the bush, dump sites, drains or even at the beach; drains are choked with solid waste causing floods and quiet fantastically,

It high time such uncivilised and lacadestical attitudes are changed in order to curb the sanitation issue.
second factor is
GOVERNMENTAL POLICIES:
Day in day out differnt governments come and exit but fail to address the filth cancer.
former President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama on 1st  November, 2014 declared the first Saturday of each month as a National Sanitation Day following the unforgettable cholera outbreak that claimed over 150 lives in Ghana that year, it was meant to signify the leading role government ought to assume in the fight to promote sanitation across the country. Over four years down the line, the day has escaped the memory of almost everyone and the issue of sanitation somehow has been relegated to the background among the public. This policies do not see sustainability because there is no legislative instruments backing them but just a mere statement and a one day wonder.

Several initiatives have been introduced by government but non of been able to be sustained and seen our sanitation issues solved.
Also failure of government to provide dustbins and waste collectors,to a large extent, the challenges to sanitation in Ghana and many other developing nations are linked to the inability to create proper disposal points for solid waste, lack of enforcement of sanitation laws, population growth, poor financing of sanitation policies, rural-urban migration, poor sanitation infrastructure, lack of sanitation technologies among others.
Even though the country Ghana has seen several non governmental organisations organizing clean up exercise here and there, there is the need to push the government to educate the masses of the dangers that are associated with filth and create agencies and task forces to reduce the filth issues in various communities. Most of these societies and non governmental organisations do not have the adequate fund and support, their efforts always go in vain due to these constraints.

One of the problems is how far the waste collected by an individual can go to ensure that it doesn’t return to their compounds and gutters or those of other people. Encouraging people to take responsibility for providing their own sanitation without creating dump sites will only result in people gathering waste around themselves. It is without surprise that the over 2,200 tonnes of solid waste in Accra is scattered in the streets and drains of the city, causing nightmare situations most of the time.In the urban areas, private companies take up the responsibility of collecting the solid waste of  but of individual house holds for a fee.
5 SOLUTIONS AND SUGGESTIONS TO THIS  FILTH NIGHTMARE:
1. Creating of dumb sites for the accumulation of filth.
2. Recruiting an army of waste mongers and equip them with transport to collect waste of house hold on a lower fee.
3.Sensitizing the public on the need to clean and keep their surrounding clean.
4. Pass a law on filth and  ensure its enforcement.
5.Provision of jobs and ameinties in the rural areas,so to curb the rural-urban migration issues. This can reduce the amount of rubbish accumulated in the capital cities causing floods.
With all these suggestion and solution when looked at and attached to our systems can make as change. It our duty as citizens to manage and ensure the each government policies succeed for the betterment of our country.

My husband won’t run away: Nyantakyi’s wife

First Wife of Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi’s, Christine-Marie Nyantakyi, has boldly confirmed that her husband indeed doled out an amount of $100,000 in a desperate attempt to stop the public screening of Anas’ number 12 exposé on football corruption, that has effectively damaged the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President’s career and dignity.
It would be recalled that before the screening of the investigative piece in June 2018, news emerged that Mr. Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team, had attempted to blackmail Mr. Nyantakyi by demanding $100,000 from him to stop the screening of the video.
The Anas camp however denied being a party to such blackmail, suggesting that someone might be seeking to serve as an intermediary for that purpose without their knowledge or approval.
But speaking for the first time on the grace to grass story of her husband on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana on Tuesday, Mrs. Christine-Marie Nyantakyi, who’s also the Director of Oasis Montessori School at Teshie Greda Estates, stated emphatically that; in their desperation at the time after seeing pieces of the video, they were approached by some persons who said they could stop the screening for an amount of $150,000.
She said her husband only gave out $100,000 because that was all he could pay. She however did not state categorically if the men had links to Anas or Tiger Eye PI.

Mr. Nyantakyi has been banned from all football activities for the rest of his life, and has been fined 500,000 Swiss Francs (equivalent of Ghc2,414,276.46 and $497,490.00 respectively), for various breaches of FIFA’s code of ethics after he was exposed by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
According to her, the amount was paid back to them in tranches after the screening of the video.
“Well, there’s information, and there’s truth in that information. Apparently, we became so desperate when we realized that all that they presented to us were false, so we tried to make some interventions, and they proposed that he pays some money. They proposed $150,000; my husband couldn’t afford it, so he gave out $100,000 dollars, and they came back to him and said the person says you need to add $50,000, and he said well, I don’t have it; that’s all that I have.”
Asked what happened to the $100,000, she said it was later returned to them when the video was shown.
“They brought $40,000 first; and then later on, they brought $60,000 dollars. I have not gathered the courage to watch the full video, because the small that I watched, I knew that the way he is talking; that is not my husband; something might have gone wrong.”
I don’t know what they did to my husband
Asked what she believed might have gone wrong with him, she said; “I don’t know what they did to him. My husband is a very skeptical person; I don’t know what they did to him to follow them like that. You don’t just get him to follow you like that.”
When the host, Paul Adom-Otchere asked if he could have been under a spell or some incantations, she responded in the affirmative.
According to her, the husband informed her that he had received $40,000 on his second Dubai trip, and that the amount was to cover for the cost of his trip.
“He told me this long before the video came out. He said it was for reimbursement of his ticket, because that was the agreement they had. So he accepted the money with the belief that it was a refund for his trip as agreed.”
‘My husband is pained’
Mrs. Nyantakyi said her husband is pained, as he kept wondering what the motive could have been for this.
“His worry and the bother is what the motive was; so he tried to find out from people why did they do that? The motive for somebody planning, plotting, strategizing and executing this just to make sure he’s disgraced. So that has been his pain and worry; he doesn’t mind at all whatever has happened; he has taken that in good faith, but each day he keeps asking what have I done wrong?
If they wanted me out they could have found another way; but that scheming to that extent”.
She suggested that what happened to her husband, could befall anyone, if people were to shine the light on what others have discussed or done in their closet about people.
These were the exact words she said to Paul Adom Okyere of Metro Tv “Paul, I mean we are all human beings…the conversations that we have every day amongst us as friends, as associates and business partners, if those conversations are taken out, all of us will be in trouble. The sociologists will tell you that human beings are complex beings; as soon as a light is thrown on you; your behaviour, your demeanour, your gestures change; so you talk to somebody knowing that there’s no one else watching you, there are no cameras; and then all of a sudden; everything is in the open. If he had known, I am sure that things that he said or did; he wouldn’t have done them. So that’s the pain that he has…That you come to me; deceive me and then I follow you; for you to do this to me. He’s okay with it; he has learnt a lot of lessons even though very bitterly” she said.
Although the incident has taken a huge toll on them especially their two daughters, aged 13 and 9; she said they’re coping by the help of God.
“Yes; it’s been tough for us, but we’ve been able to hold on by the grace of God.
My husband won’t run away; be patient with him – Nyantakyi’s wife begs
She pleaded with Ghanaians to be patient with her husband; saying he’s not running away from the country.
watch interview video here↓↓↓↓
Mr. Nyantakyi himself has described the punishment as “harsh and unfair”, and has served notice he will be appealing the decision; a position his wife strongly agrees with.
“Fifa is an association and it’s governed by a code of ethics; so if you break the code of ethics; you’re sanctioned; so whatever has happened; it’s a sanction; it’s not a criminal finding. People are saying Fifa has banned him so what’s Ghana doing. We’re talking about two different things here. To prove that somebody has committed a crime, you need to go through some processes. And the law says that a person is presumed to be innocent until proven otherwise” she noted.
Background
Mr. Nyantakyi was first handed a 90-day provisional ban in June 2018, after the showing of a video and audio evidence of allegations of corruption leveled against him by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, in his piece titled, Number 12.
The suspension was further extended by another ninety days in September 2018, before the announcement of the lifetime ban on Tuesday.
Anas and Tigereye PI petition to Fifa
On Wednesday, June 6, the Adjudicatory Chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee received a complaint and request from journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas through Cromwell Gray LLP, to commence investigations into the conduct of Kwesi Nyantakyi based on the content of the journalists’ latest investigative film titled ‘Number12’.
The piece captured Kwesi Nyantakyi in a compromised position. He was filmed supposedly taking $65,000 (£48,000) from an undercover reporter pretending to be a businessman.
The video among other things captured top officials of the football association including its President, Nyantakyi taking bribes to influence the invitation of players to the national team, influencing the duration of playing time offered to some players and influencing the selection of unfit players and referees to participate in games.
Also, more than 100 referees were caught on tape taking bribes to manipulate the outcome of games in a team’s favour.
‘Following the first screening of the video, many called for a complete dissolution of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and immediate resignation of its embattled president, Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Kwesi Nyantakyi, who was also the first Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) eventually resigned from all football-related positions few days after the 0l0video was aired.
Then the suspension from Fifa followed.
At a point, he was investigated by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service after President Akufo-Addo filed a complaint when he watched excerpts of Anas’ video, in which the former FA President was using his name to lure foreign investors.
Ghana gets FIFA-appointed Normalization Committee
Following the eventual halt of football activities in Ghana after the corruption exposé, the government of Ghana attempted to dissolve the FA using the courts, but faced stiff opposition from members of the FA.
Eventually, government and the FA came to an agreement to allow Fifa, to mediate in the matter. Fifa in the end, set up a Normalization Committee for the country in September 2018, which has been given a period of six months to sort out the issues and restore Ghana football to normalcy.
What becomes of Nyantakyi’s suits against Anas?
In the latter part of September 2018, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi sued undercover investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. That suit was the second time Mr. Nyantakyi was suingp Anas and his Tigereye PI firm. The earlier suit also at a High Court was specifically about dl0l0''lefamation.
Nyantakyi wants the High Court to declare that Anas’ secret recording of their conversations as well as publishing same, violates his [Nyantakyi’s] “fundamental human rights to privacy and confidentiality in my dealings with others.
Mr. Nyantakyi is urging the court to also declare that the recordings violated his “right to dignity” because he wasn’t consulted before the piece was premiered, and thus prayed the apex court to award damages against Anas and his Tigereye PI firm for the said violations.

Why the Flippancy?

Here in Ghana, one of the most disastrous incidents that affect our society and our human endeavors is the issue of perennial floods Year after year, we experience this perilous disasters in our country.

We have attributed this to the lack of water ways, gilt engulfing our surroundings, improper planning and people building on water ways. The most affected people are those leaving in our inner cities and zongos.

Whenever this happens ,government has to intervene with the aid of National Disaster Management (NADMO) to give relieved items to the displayed people.Should we as a people always tune our minds  and get ready for this disaster every year without cringing?

What are our Metropolitans, Municipals and district assemblies doing to curb or ameliorate this havoc? And to the largest extent, the town planners.

Ironically, the national capital which is supposed to be an epitome of good planning is rather the worst of it all. Ever since the President declared to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa, what steps have been taking by the A.M.A to make this feasible? If we truly want to do away with this flooding, then we must take a critical look at the filth which has engulfed our city.

Although tracks have been provided to the various assemblies in his to keep our cities and towns clean but is this enough? Where are the dustbin we used to see at every vantage points at our surroundings? We must do away with that culture of cognitive dissonance.

Frankly speaking ,since the introduction of the sanitation ,Ministry a year and half ago ,thoe I have NT seen any massive impact in has made, though it’s a blessing in disguise.

Government spend over billions of cedis trying to help solve this flooding problem. It is always amazing why it gets flooded whenever it rains for 20 to 30 minutes. One of the most recent floods that got people shocked was the Kotoka international airport Terminal 3 which was opened commercially on 1st October,2018.This incident was as a national faux pas which can never be acceptable in any serious country which has the aviation sector as one of its priority.

The question is, are we waiting as a people for a national disaster to hit this country before they set up a Committee of enquiry to find solutions.

The time has come for as a people to change our minds and attitudes Now.

Legalization of prostitution very vital to economy.

LEGALIZATION OF PROSTITUTION

Prostitution is the business or practice of engaging in sexual activity in exchange for payment.

Prostitution is sometimes described as sexual services, commercial sex or, colloquially, hooking. Prostitution occurs in a variety of forms. Brothels are establishments specifically dedicated to prostitution.

The important of prostitution

It generates income.

It indicates that men are unable to find free sex. This may incidate a broader problem in a society.

Prostitution is usually associated with desperation and exploitation. Women don’t desire casual sex as much as men do, and even when they do, they usually don’t like being paid for it.

Classification of Prostitution

Independent Call Girl/Escort

Independent escorts work for themselves in hotels and private buildings like houses, charge high prices, and stay away from the public eye. They likely advertise their services online, and they get to keep their profits since they're self-employed.

Escort Agency Employee

Like independent call girls, employees of escort agencies work in private locations or hotels and charge relatively high prices.

Brothel Employee

Brothels are dedicated locations where people pay for sex and can include saunas and massage parlors, Weitzer writes. The prices they charge are "moderate," and brothel workers endure "moderate exploitation"

Window Worker

Thistype of prostitution is  prevalent enticing passersby to enter houses of prostitution by prominently displaying the women in windows. Here's Weitzer's excellent description of window work, which pays women a low-to-moderate wage.

Bar or Casino Worker

These sex workers make initial contact with men at a bar or casino and then have sex at a separate location.

Streetwalker

Streetwalkers earn relatively little money and are vulnerable to exploitation, Weitzer writes. Not surprisingly, they report less job satisfaction and get paid less than "indoor prostitutes" (bar workers, brothel workers, or call girls).

Note well: Streetwalking is very notoriously dangerous.
